In end of 1990’s one of the leading dotcom’s was Boo.com. One of their original business ideas was to create virtual models of yourself and thus be able to buy the clothes that woud exactly fit you. Moreover, it was targeted allow to you profile holders to try out these clothes in a virtual dress room. 1990s was all about internet via modems – thus no way of succeeding…
Well, in the broadband era, the Boo-vision has become reality. My Virtual Model Inc is allowing consumers to create a virtual image of themselves, of their kitchen and of their bedrooms. With model, one can test our how would one look if wearing/having the clothes on. But, also try out how funny/stupid one could look by wearing weird combinations such as sandals, shorts and a suit jacket. Heh, try it out, quite a lot of fun!
The world of Avatars & Virtual Worlds has evolved since end of 1990s. HabboHotel, Ultima Online and Everquest have shown that virtual business can be real business. The Sims have thought us that games do not need to be all about shooting and driving, they can be also about issues that people normally do and beyond.
If the trend of using avatars and virtual profiles continues to approach real business, we will for sure see many interesting trials and also, hopefully, success cases around the the topic. Meanwhile, let’s keep on exploring the wonder world of digitality! What do you think about this phenomena? Do you have favourite examples/ virtual places that you join? Let’s try to collect a good listing here below for us to be talk about this issue more throuhgly!
